Walk with the crows
Experiences with Wild-Living Corvids in Aarhus and at Moesgård Beach
Here are a few videos from when I had just begun befriending “my” crows.
It all started with Blackie — she was the one who brought us together. She invited the others, and before I knew it, things escalated quickly. The newly invited birds brought their closest friends… and then they invited more.
Until suddenly I had a large, steady flock of regular crows around me.
My crow flock at Moesgård consists of 5 (possibly 6) murders/flocks.
They likely come from the same original group, but as the population grew, they split into several territories and sub-groups.
Around the ice cream kiosk and the parking areas, they gather on neutral ground.
Only during egg season and when the young are ready to leave the nest in spring do fights sometimes break out on this neutral territory.
Otherwise, the only conflicts happen if members of one group accidentally follow me into another group’s territory when I’m out walking.
That can cause trouble at other times of the year.
