The Crowman with his crows on TV2
One day, as I was on my way down to the crows, TV2 called me to ask if they could stop by and film me. And well… why not?
When they arrived, I was out walking with a young crow that I was helping to care for at the time, and which my partner and I were in the process of introducing to the local hooded crows in the area.
Many people have since thought that we keep crows as pets, but we don’t.
Corvids are not suitable as pets at all. It would be both unethical and unfair to keep them in captivity.
The crows I interact with are mostly found 15–20 km from where I live — although a couple have found me at home and settled in the neighbourhood. But mainly, it’s the crows by the beach that I visit.
It’s a long story, which you can read more about here on the site or through my videos.
But the short version is: the crows approached me — and still approach me — whenever I walk along the beach.
At one point, I had a jackdaw and a hooded crow in care. Both were orphans and more dead than alive when they were rescued and brought to me. This happened because the Danish Animal Protection hotline had no wildlife station available to help at the time, so I stepped in.
It’s not something I recommend for just anyone — it was a full-time job and like having ten teenagers living in my house.
Anyway… here you can watch the two TV2 features that were shown on national television and online.
